Conway High School

We served as the Prime General Contractor for this $28 Million, 280,000 SF renovation project for Conway High School in the Horry County School District. To successfully deliver this project on an active campus within the 18-month time frame, our team worked closely with the Horry County School District and Architect D3G to create a six-part phasing plan that provided students and teachers with the adequate space needed for learning during construction.

During the Pre-Construction phase, our team orchestrated a strategy for each of the six phases, allowing us to release materials from vendors on an accelerated schedule and avoid long lead times and price increases on materials required for the project. In addition, to prevent supply chain issues and subcontractor mark-up fees for mechanical equipment, H.G. Reynolds bid out an Early Mechanical Equipment Package before bidding out the Main Package. This strategy enabled our team to stay on schedule and under budget, saving Horry County $2.2 Million.

Each phase covered approximately 40,000 SF. The scope for each phase included demolishing and delivering new ceilings, roofing, asbestos removal, a new HVAC system, and a few other miscellaneous renovations that varied from phase to phase. The initial phasing strategy aimed to deliver each phase in approximately three months, allowing students and teachers to access their original classrooms with limited interruption to their academic year.
